• Question: can your hands that you make pick things up

      I haven’t made any prosthetic hands before but I have seen some of the amazing prosthetics in hospitals. There are simple prosthetics which don’t have any function (can’t pick things up) but look incredibly real and others which are functional and can pick up objects and work more like a real hand.

      Picking things is extremely difficult because there is a huge variety of shapes and materials that the objects are made of. Usually, a robot will have different manipulator for different types of object. For example, three fingers to pick a soft plastic bottle, claw to pick a solid metal stick, etc. As you can see, there is no neither single nor simple solution for grasping and picking things up. Maybe you will be the next engineer who will work on this problem 🙂
