      Hi Cliodhna,
We usually get together as a group and discuss our ideas. We think about common injuries and how we could help cure them – this might be with a whole new invention or by re-designing an existing one that does not work as well as it could. There is a lot of input from colleagues and sometimes from the people who pay for our research.

For me it was a process. I had an idea first that was very vague. Then I went to few scientific meetings and talked to people about my ideas. Other scientists suggested me to look for information in different fields, like psychology and nursing. Eventually my idea got shaped by suggestions from the fellow scientists and engineers

Lots of research, group discussions, building of prototypes, design. It’s a cool and fun process! You get to be really creative.

A lot of research to see whats been done and whats missing. talking to my supervisors and seeing if what i wanted to do was possible, and then lots and lots of trial and error in the lab.
