I would probably apply my knowledge from working with robots elsewhere

Globally, the world will collapse as we are more reliant on robots than most people think.

Personally, my research on hands will probably continue because advanced robotics has actually caused some of the initial problems. As technology has developed over the last 60 years, engineers and clinicians have been adding all sort of electronics to artificial hands to make it better. Whilst they may perform a bit better now with the newest sort of motors, they are almost double in weight which makes it difficult to use. There needs to be a balance of functionality, weight, comfort and usability for a successful prosthetic device (and cost as well!).
