I guess you could 3D print a hand at home if you need one! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/robohand#/

The cover can be anything strong enough not to disintegrate too soon, metal, plastic, wood, textile, stone. The cover could move, but does not have to. In order to move, it needs motors and the motors need power. A small computer (like Arduino) can control the hand if you wish to move it. The trick is to attach it to the human body

Depends what you want to use the hands for. If you want something that is truly functional, join the queue as I am still trying to figure that out.

      However for some fun things:
Cardboard hand – oversized hand can be amusing but won’t be able to actually pick up anything

Cardboard grabber – not really a hand but at least it actually picks up things!

draw around your hand on a cardboard and only cut out the palm section add bendy straws for your fingers and tie strings through the straws and you have a puppet hand

Awesome question! This is where you get to think like an engineer, what is a hand? What do you need it for? What does it have to do? How does it move, how does it rotate, how does it feel, how do you sense heat or texture, how much pressure do you apply when you touch objects, how do you pick up objects? Creating hands is a really big area of research in making prosthetics for people who have lost their hands and also in robotics. We can create single features quite easily but recreating a human hand exactly is a big (but very interesting) challenge!!
